Welcome to the beautiful and enchanting Cannon Beach. This charming coastal town is known for its stunning natural beauty, picturesque beaches, and vibrant local culture. As a travel enthusiast, I was so excited to explore this magical place and soak up all the sights, sounds, and flavors it had to offer.
As soon as I arrived, I was immediately captivated by the breathtaking scenery that surrounded me. The town is nestled against the backdrop of the rugged Cascade Mountains, with towering cliffs and rocky outcrops jutting out into the Pacific Ocean. The iconic Haystack Rock rises majestically from the shoreline, offering a stunning view that is sure to take your breath away. I’ve seen this view from photos many times, but it’s beauty in person cannot be fully described.
One of the first things I did was take a leisurely stroll along the beach. This stunning stretch of coastline is lined with pristine white sand, crashing waves, and an endless horizon of water. I spent hours combing the beach for treasures, watching the waves roll in, and breathing in the crisp sea air. There are a ton of tide pools all around, which was so intriguing to see watching all the living creatures in these pools.
Not only is this town full of natural beauty, but it’s also home to a vibrant local culture. The town is filled with charming art galleries, quirky boutiques, and delicious restaurants. I had the pleasure of visiting several of these and was blown away by the quality of the food and the warmth of the people.
One of my favorite restaurants was the Lazy Susan Cafe, a cozy eatery that serves up delicious and inventive breakfast dishes. The menu featured fresh and locally sourced ingredients, and the coffee was top-notch. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home.
After indulging in some delicious food, I decided to explore the town’s rich artistic heritage. Cannon Beach is home to numerous art galleries and studios, showcasing the work of local artists and artisans. I had the pleasure of visiting several of these galleries, including the DragonFire Studio & Gallery and the Northwest by Northwest Gallery where the talent and creativity of the artists is sure to inspire you. The Oregon coast is also known for their blown glass, and the incredible works of art made from this medium are breathtaking. I’ll have to do a follow up post on jut the blown glass art and history behind it.
As the sun began to set, I made my way back to the beach to watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. The sky was ablaze with shades of pink, orange, and gold, and the sea was alive with the sound of crashing waves. The perfect ending was setting up a beachside fire to relax, drink some wine, and take in all the beauty that surrounded me.
This is such s a magical and enchanting place that is sure to capture your heart. From the stunning natural beauty to the vibrant local culture, there is something for everyone in this charming coastal town.
